It means “Al Volt” ceramic between friends.

The vaulted basement of “Al Volt” is in Sopramonte, an Italian village of the Monte Bondone, the mountain of Trento, capital of the Dolomites. There, an association of four guys spend most of their evenings far away from TV, working clay as a hobby. There is always good company, someone knocking on the door with a bottle of wine, some local artisanal beer; “carne lucanica” (sausage) or whatever can cheer up an evening.

This happy company has conceived the flag of their Mountain, most of them are also hang gliders or paragliders, and active members of the free-flight life of Trentino.

One of the members, who is French (no one is perfect), lives today in Lincoln, and has focused his art clay to portraits and plaques.  He opened a workshop in the UK at LINCOLN. All of his work is made in the spirit of his Italian masters, and the back side of his work always mentions:

“Per e nello spirito di Al Volt” that means: In and for the spirit of Al Volt. And the Monte Bondone Flag is always floating, engraved for millenniums in the clay.

Be patient, drying times are long pieces might break while drying or explode during firing. This is the hard law of handmade clay work. But fine results always reward the early and patient (wo)man.

Nascosta discretamente nel villaggio di Sopramonte, una cantina è l’appuntamento tradizionale di un gruppo di amici che lavorano l'argila per hobby e che passano le serate lontano della TV. C’e sempre buona compagnia, qualcuno che bussa alla porta con un po' di  lucanica trentina o una bottiglia di vino. 

Questa gioiosa compagnia ha concepito la bandiera del Monte Bondone. La maggior parte dei membri sono parapendisti o deltaplanisti e attivi membri del volo libero Trentino. L’ultimo arrivato nella compagnia è Francese (nessuno è perfetto) vive in Inghilterra e ha focalizzato i  suoi lavori su placche fatte a mano su richiesta e ritratti fatti a mano su richiesta in ceramica. Ha finalmente aperto il suo laboratorio a LINCOLN in Gran bretagna. Il suo lavoro ispirato dai suoi maestri porta sempre la massima :“Per e nello spirito di Al Volt” e la bandiera del Monte Bondone rimane incisa per millenni nella terra cotta.

Il tornio vede sempre nascere nuove idee, e la ceramica tradizionale é rapresentata con forza ed esperienza, con  tocco di ricerca guidata dalla voglia di uscire dai sentieri troppo consueti.

La cave voutée d’Al volt est discrètement cachée dans le village Italien de Sopramonte, sur le Monte Bondone, la Montagne de Trento, capitale des Dolomites. Une groupe de quelques amis s’y réunis régulièrement, passant des soirées loin de la Télévision. Il y a toujours de la bonne compagnie, quelqu’un qui tambourine à la porte avec une bouteille de vin, un peu de « Carne lucanica » un saucisson local, ou de quoi animer une soirée.

Cette joyeuse compagnie a conçu le Drapeau du Monte Bondone, la plupart d’entre eux sont des pilotes de parapentes ou de Deltaplane et de très actifs membres du vol libre Trentin. Le dernier arrivé est français (personne n’est parfait) et a focalisé son travail sur les plaques faites à la main et sur demande et les portraits faits mains et sur demande en céramiques et son atelier se trouve a LINCOLN UK. Ses travaux portent toujours cette maxime : Per e nello spirito di Al volt ce qui signifie « pour l’esprit et dans l’esprit d’Al volt » et le drapeau du Monte Bondone flotte toujours, gravé pour des millénaires dans la terre cuite.

Le tour voit toujours naitre des idées nouvelles, la poterie traditionnelle est représentée avec force et expérience, avec une touche de désir de sortir des sentiers battus.
